My friend shot a 20 Lb. turkey this morning. In talking to him he asked how big do they get. I told him not sure, But I know a place to find out. In Minnesota what is the heaviest wild turkey that you have got or heard of someone getting.

Correction his was 24 Lbs. on a digital scale. It had a 11″ beard and 7/8 spurs. Nice bird for sure.

I shot one over 25 a couple years back. I think 20lbs is pretty average for the Easterns in farmland.

I’m not 100% on this but I heard/read somewhere 34 lbs was the MN state record.

I’ve seen a few that were close and hit the 30 lb. mark. Thier big turkeys and they stand out over and above the rest.
