Wondering what you guys are using for chokes? Looking to buy a birthday present for my dad, as this is the first year he’s drawn a tag. I’m shooting a Hevishot Dead Coyote, which seems to do a nice job. I guess I’m just looking for other options, any recommendations or opinions would be appreciated.

I’m shooting the Hevi Shot 4,5,6 mix. I use the Carlson Coyote in my 870.

He’s shooting a 12 gauge Beretta 1201F, 3″. I’ve always shot 5’s, so I’ll probably set him up with the same.

I shoot the Carlson super full in my Benelli. I wouold suggest after you get the choke try different loads and see which patterns the best with that choke out of his gun. Mine shoots 4’s and 5’s awesome, but the pattern with #6’s is scatterred and with large holes.

There is no perfect answer. Even some of the same exact models of a gun will prefer a different choke/ammo combo from gun to gun . The most important thing you can do is to pattern your gun after you decide with a wide variety of ammo. It’s not cheap but if you can find a couple of turkey hunters to pattern together you can save some cash. Sorry for not having an answer and good luck to your old man this spring!
