Heading turkey Hunting in Central Minnesota 1 week from today. Anyone have a update as to what stage the turkeys are in in that area. My hunting partner has been having rather limited success in getting the birds to respond to his locator and friction calls. He also says he is seeing a really limited # of birds in the fields. I hope with the warmer weather the next week that activity will pick up. From what he is describing it sounds like a lot of hen’s may already be on Eggs. If that be the case what techniques will work the best as far as decoy’s and calling. I have a rather limited amount of experience with hunting in these conditions. Any Info. or suggestions will be helpful and appreciated.

I was near Fergus falls last weekend and the hens were not sitting yet, Toms were gobbling and responding mostly too the box call but not to the mouth call. I head back tomorrow for my season starting Thursday. If they are on the nest best thing to do is try to find their normal routine and cut them off after fly down. I haven’t had much luck with calling once the hens sit.

Last week I had a lot of hens talking to me and coming into my sets. Not so much on the gobblers. I don’t think they are as far along as we would think with the early spring. At least I will keep telling myself that for my bow tag that starts next week
