Well, the season has come and gone for me. I had an encounter the first morning at 6:15 or so. I must have used the wrong pin on my bow and sent the arrow just underneath the Tom. No real damage done to him, I found my arrow and there was no blood, just a couple of missing feathers. I sat Saturday night, Sunday Am, Tuesday AM and again this morning. All I ever saw were hens. Finally at about 6:45 or so this morning a Jake gave me a 15 yard broadside shot. I let my arrow go and Buried it (in which I thought was the 10 ring) He ran off around the corner and I lost sight of him. I jumped out of my blind and ran after him. No crashing in the woods, not laying out in the pasture…no blood, no feathers, no bird . The arrow was still sticking out of him when he ran off and his wing was pinned down so I know he couldn’t fly. I looked for an hour back in forth in the woods and around the field edge looking for sign. Just weird, I gave up the chase at 8:15 and packed up. No idea what I did wrong…maybe a little far forward, maybe. But it definitly was a kill shot in my opinion. I’m gonna head back again after work to see if I can find any sign of him.

So this year it was turkeys 2 – Bob 0.
