After hearing from a few locals that the birds have been gobbling these warm mornings, I went out to take a listen. It was short (as in one or two sequences on the limb), but it was hearty! There’s a particular hen that I’m sure to do battle with in the near future, whose cutts are sharp, and whose cackles are raspy. She got the old boys fired up on the limb! Great to hear it, but after that salvo, I’m about as confused as the turkeys. There’s still plenty ice fishing left!

I thought I was hearing things on the last warm spell when it hit the upper 40’s last week. Had a few sound off Like you said, a lot of fishing yet to do. But, I’m as confused as the weather. I have about 2000 trees to trim from a planting 3 years ago. Been waiting for it to get cold – sap is running, my peach trees are budding, and my maple in the front yard looks like leaves are about to pop

Been hearing this everynight fishing in the last couple weeks plus seeing fluffed up and strutting routinely at my parents place lately.
