I’m no expert but this is how I solved the same issue.

I had the same issue on my JD, which I think is a ventless tank…I couldn’t find one anyway! I installed a fuel shut off before the carb, problem solved. This issue only happened during hot weather.

I had pulled my carb apart, cleaned, inspected…it was fine …till the next hot spell, heat/expansion, gas has to go somewhere. It wasn’t my float. So the shut off was installed last summer, no problems since…

BD, that is what I am doing right now. But the tank is vented. Unfortunately the tank sits above the carb, and gravity is not my friend on this one.

Could be a sticky/ worn needle or float in the carb. If it gets stuck in the open position it will allow gas to flow right through the system. If you are mechanically inclined just pull the carb off and give it a quick cleaning inside and out making note of where everything goes. Brake and parts cleaner works awesome for cleaning carbs and all the lines within them. Good Luck!

Sounds good. Something to do after the IDO GTG this weekend.

Man was it full!!! It is still purging gas out all over my floor!!!! Arrrrrrgh!

    I drained the tank luckily!

Ran into the same thing in a 18 horse. industrial briggs. The float stuck open and filled the cylinder with gas. I emptied the crank case because gas does get by the rings and ends up in the crankcase. I took the carb apart and cleaned that, reassembled using the same parts and gaskets and it runs fine. Just take everything apart and don’t loose the carb settings on the low and high speed gas screws, sometimes theres one, sometimes theres two. Bottom them out and remember the turns, then when reassembling turn the screws back to the origional place. If thier off turn them out 1 1/2 turns and listen to the rpm’s of the motor. Pm me if you need help, its easy and make sure the throttle and govener springs and linkage goes back in the same hole. Its also a good idea to clean and grease the recoil and check the rope for wear when you have the cover off.

I was calling for my son when a saw a flock of 5 toms 200 yards out. After about 20 min. they spotted my decoys and ran the last 50 yards across the bean field right to my decoys. They were out of his range and I was only calling so I did not a gun with me but were only 5 yards out from me. My set up was for them to come from my left, walk past my son on the way to the decoys but they came from right. After several kee-kees calls to bring them back 3 times they finally drifted to my left where my son was and he was able to harvest this 17 1/2 lbs, 10″ beard and 3/4″ spur tom. After he said “nothing is going to ruin my day now.” Mine either son. CONGRATS!!

Love it! Great work mixing those kee-kees in. If there was ever a fall-call….that’s the one. Congrats to the both of you for keeping patient and letting it unfold the way it did!
