I’m not, and it’s concerning. We had some pretty terrible hatching weather, and any of the early breeders had to re-nest without a doubt. That said, I know the foliage is grown-up more than when we’re usually seeing poults running around.

I have seen a fair amount of toms and jakes that made it through the season however, so that’s a good thing.

Not a single one, but I’m also not seeing the adults in the same areas I saw them this spring. Fingers crossed!

I saw my first 2 yesterday with a hen, they were barly bigger than a soft ball and couldnt get more than 4 ft off the ground. Kinda concerning typicaly they are thick this time of year!

i saw several adult flocks down this way before the crops got too big. no poults, though.

but on vacation to p4 a month ago, we were coming down 35 and had just passed THE maiden rock, when a hen and poults came onto the road from up the steep bank on the lake side.

i checked my mirrors, no one coming, so i slowed way down and eventually at least 10 little ones followed the hen across the road and into the ditch below the big bluff. a car came around the bend from the other direction and the last little guy could barely fly but made it safely.

the poults were not even as big as quail. couldnt get the camera out quick enough to get a pic. cool to see, though.

i agree the cool, wet spring could have been tough on the hatch.

have not seen any yet this year I also have not seen many turkeys this year at all I think they did not take the winter to good last year there was a definite decrease in numbers this spring plus the wet weather has not helped hopefully they rebound

I think our hatch here in Iowa has been down the last 3 years. Or at least were I hunt . The really wet springs an brutal winters have been tough on the birds.

I went to hang a camera today and saw two hens with a bunch of poults about 200 yards away I couldn’t count how many there were because they were all grouped together. But i would say there were at least a dozen or so

Been seeing lots of ’em up here in the north and in areas with fewer turkeys, so the population is climbing up here!!!
