double beard

    This is the beard from the Tom i shot yesterday and i can’t tell if there is an additional beard branching out? What do you guys think?

    Good question. What you’re seeing there is actually some breakage on the top of the first and only beard. When there are multiple beards, they have their own separate bases and are located a distance (albeit small) from the initial beard. Usually the base is much, much smaller, and the strands are much fewer/shorter, except in the case of the true doubles which tend to have beards of equal length/size.

    I forgot to add that multiple beards are typically below the main beard too, and this one appears to be above.
