well after listening to this tom gobble in his roost about 6 or 7 hundred yards from us across a field and pasture back in the woods…. he finally showed him self out in the field. he took about 30 min. to make it across the feild into the pasture i was set up in. once he got to the pasture he decided to speed up and make my shot a difficult one! i had a window about 8″ wide through a bush to take him and when he came through it he was so low in the wash out i nearly couldnt get a shot i could just see his head above the edge of the blind. well i too my shot at about 30 yards and pumbled him! he weighed 23 lbs. i have not measured his beard or spurs but i would guess beard was 10 or so inches and spurs were maybe 1 inch.

i want to through out a big thank you to brad and Lee swanson for taking me out on my first turkey hunt and putting me on a sweet spot for some nice long beards!

Congrats on your first bird! What a rush. If you are anything like the rest of us turkey junkies…you can’t wait to do it all over again next year.

    Many congrats Drew. It’s something I couldn’t go a spring without doing, and I’m glad you’re on-board!
