I sat yesterday until 10:30 am and went back out with Isaac at 5:30 til around 7:30. My morning sit started out great, I got in my blind and heard a gobble at 5:45 am, and he is close behind me. I’m thinking this is gonna be a quick season I let out a couple of Puts & Yelps to let him know there was a hot piece of tail out in the pasture and waited to hear him fly down. At 6:10 or so he flys down, crashing through the woods, to my surprise he is getting further and further away…. I am like what happened Then I see them, two nice and pretty red fox walking around the pasture where I planned on having a photo session at 6:30. Well, lets go on a preditor hunt instead…. I kissed the back of my hand to get them to come in, but to no avail.

The afternoon was really quiet, no gobbles at all. Lots of angry birds on the phone with the boy. We did see a ton of deer A TON. There were 10 out in the pasture when we pulled in, another 8 on the other side of the property showed up later. There was one 6 pointer still holding. April 18th, weird…

Isaac found a nubbin skull, so his day was a complete success. Mom tickled pink that he brought it home.

Sounds like a good time to bad you couldn’t lay the down. Glad to hear your seeing a pile of deer I’m seeing more each day.

All the deer we saw were on a 14 acre chunk of land. I am wondering if the snipers had anything to do with the concentration. My uncle even said this is the most deer he’s ever seen on his land. Either way, still good to see they didn’t kill EVERY deer in olmsted county.
