How did the shooting turn out? Hopefully up to your expectations.

There’s a lot of good tubes out there these days. I’ve shot a few different tubes in my day and along side a lot of different tubes in the waterfowl blind. I shoot patternmaster for every thing. When I get a new gun the patternmaster goes in and doesn’t come out. I can’t tell you how many guys I’ve taken out that end up buying one after a weekend of gunning. I patterned 6 shot turkey loads 2 years ago and it put 98 pellets in a 14×14″ box at 50 yards. In the waterfowl blinds the tight pattern means more clean kills and clean misses. From the turkey woods through the coyote stands and into the goose fields, the patternmaster has proven to be absolutely deadly for me!

I didn’t make it out like I had planned forgot about a thing at my sons school. Morning is looking like dropping him off at school then to the range. I looked for a paternmaster turkey choke around town but couldn’t find one, and didn’t really have time to wait for shipping. What turkey loads do you use out of them?

as far as patternmasters go (to my current knowledge) you won’t find a ‘turkey tube’. The tubes to look for are the original patternmasters which are called long range (3″ shells) and extended range (3 1/2″ shells). These are what I am talking about. I have effectively shot 3″s out of extended regularly even though they are built for 3 1/2″s. The difference is a bit longer tube to accommodate for a bit longer wad in correlation to ‘wad slowing device’ and ports in tube. The blackcloud shell wad utilizes this ‘wad slowing’ technology and is thus why they have a special tube for them. The turkey shells I was shooting were remington hd 6s. I’m sure these shells hold solid down range patterns on their own, but a decade plus of patternmaster experience ( across all species, all shell grades, all sizes) patternmaster tubes have shown me serious performance! These tubes with 2 or BB will flat out DUMP COLD a December Canada goose at 40 yards whether it is head or chest shot! Not to mention the only turkey I’ve shot with it never twitched at 26yds.

I played around with it a little bit with a few different loads, and 3in Winchester Supreme 1-3/4oz 5 shot seemed to pattern the best with what I had laying around.

Nice. Glad you are liking your choke, it really makes the cost of them feel better when you see what they are capable of
