We were just up there filming a show. The fishing was awesome, though they are two weeks behind. The crappies and bass are spawning right now.
The show will start airing this weekend.

Le Homme has always been a system that has frustrated me, at least for big fish. I catch hundreds of fish per day but can never find anything of size whether I am fishing docks or fishing big jigs and cranks out deep all I can catch are tiny bass. I would love to hear how to catch a decent bass out there in the summer.

The state park up there is top notch.

Like it has been stated, lots of fish but not many big ones.

Too many tournaments on the chain!!!

what would tournaments have to do with the size of the fish? sounds like a management issue to mee

I would think it is a management issue as well. People need to start eating some smaller bass or they need to get more big pike in the lake. Every time I am out there I catch very few pike and they are also pretty small.

You are right there are a lot of smaller fish and it sounds crazy but according to Wayne Ek, the dnr wants people to start taking these small largemouth, there are just getting to be way to many.

To me the Bass are a nuisance. It does not take much to catch a bass in Carlos. They are fairly small but I have pulled in some big bass out of Carlos mainly lindy rigging. Seems to the bigger fish were caught after dark. I mostly fish for Carlos for walleye and crappie. Ialready know the bass will be biting along with the northerns. I love lake Carlos the fishing is penomenal

Being a guide up in the Alex area I can tell you that its a lake for numbers. The big fish you really have to work for them but their there. For the tournaments the chain has roughly 7 tournaments out there a year so the fish get pressured alot and see just about ever lure possible. but people do find the big fish and we see them up in the spring. I also know that Mike schelden of the Dnr is encouraging people to take the small bass out of the lakes. Overall its a great place to fish for numbers though!

DSD has a new decoy out. It looks AWESOME. I don’t know the price or have yet to see it in person. I used the b-mobile last year and had good success with it also.

I’ve had good luck with the B-mobile using real tailfeathers as well. Perhaps the best thing about this decoy is the jig that holds the feathers together is fold-able into 1/4 the size of the full fan. That, with the hollow bottom has thus far proven to be the best in terms of realism AND mobility.

I have yet to try the DSD dekes.

I’ve owned and used several brands of full strut decoys (Primos B-Mobile, Carry-Lite Pretty Boy, Flambeau). There are pros and cons to each but regardless of which one you choose, I would put a real tail fan on it to give more realism.

This year I decided to make an investment and I ordered a DSD Strutter made by David Smith Decoys . IMHO, it’s by far the most realistic looking decoy on the market and you can convert it from a tom to a jake (it’s even more realistic if you add a real tail feather and fore wings). Again, it’s an investment and it sells for $199.95 so some hunters will not be willing to dish out that type of money. I like to bow hunt turkeys and we all know that you need to get them to commit to your setup/blind and in that situation, your decoy setup is really important. I will be performing a full product reveiw throughout the year.

Actually it was 2 thunderstorms that morning! HA! Been using B-Mobile for several seasons. First year I used the fan that came with the decoy…then I went with the fan that you can insert real feathers. Now I just use a real Jake fan and beard. That works the best for me.

That is very realistic Brad! How does it pack in and out of the field?

I’m not sure because I haven’t received it yet. It comes with a carrying bag. I’ll update everyone when I get it.

If its like any of the DSD goose decoys I have handled; it doesn’t get any smaller, they are full body’s and worth every penny IMO
