Long story short, we never had turkeys in our area growing up. The NWTF released some birds a few years back and the population is exploding in isolated areas. We are in a zone that is designated 10 tags per spring season, and 20 tags for the fall season; the zone covers a full county and half of another. Turns out I got 16 of them in my flood plots!
This property had 2 birds on it this spring with only 7-8 birds in the few mile surrounding area. Maybe next year I’ll talk those turkey guys into helping me pay for my food plots seed… Nothing says critical habitat like producing 80% of the fall’s target harvest limit
