My archery season started on 5/15 at 4am. Got in the blind and heard only a few very distant gobbles. Saw a handfull of deer as the morning wore on. Then at about 8am I heard the tell tale thuds of a deer running on solid ground. I looked out my side window only to see a the backside of a deer run past my blind and into the woodline. As I shift my eyes to the right there he stood a buff colored wolf with grey and black down his back. He stood there just looking at the point where the deer entered the woods as I frantically searched my backpack for my camera but before I could get it out he turned and trotted back. Now I know I have posted pics on here before and the general consensus was coyotes which they may have been but now I know I’m sharing my deer woods with wolves. With the recent pics of newborn fawns popping up on here all I could think of is that they would barely make a snack for these beasts. This is within 15 minutes north of St.Cloud MN. I hunted this property for 1 more day and could not believe how many of these tracks I’d seen on the newly planted fields. I just pray that they go easy on my #1 obsession, chasing whitetails. Also is a pic of a pheasant lacking a tail who visited my blind another morning. btw-I put my turkey gear away before the end of season as I struggled and let them beat me this year. Jeez, they must be taking lessons from mature bucks. Just thought I’d share, Randy

Bummer dude, hopefully these other species adapt fast to such great predator.

No doubt they are just north of St Cloud… many, many sightings every year in Camp Ripley… even by me a few years ago. Instructions for the deer hunt state, do not shoot the wolves

I guess it’s kind of cool to see a wolf in the wild but as long as it’s not on your deer hunting property.

    Thanks for sharing Randy.
