At 5:20am they started gobbling all around us. Probably heard 7 or 8 with about 4 roosting within a couple hundred yards. 3 flew down and strutted to my right at about 70 yards. Some hens flew out and were picking in the field about 150 yards away. At 5:50 a coyote came through the valley by the hens scaring them all off and luckily the Toms were brave and stayed in the field. They made their way towards me and I took a 15 yard shot. All over by 6am. 10 inch beard, 1 inch spurs but only 18.5 lbs.

Congrats Witte! Love it when it all happens the way it should. A classic morning hunt is just what the doctor ordered, esp. in WI where you could go out again in the later season with more available tags!
