For those of you who’ve been pulling that slippery little demon out in front of turkey breasts, what’s been inside?

Of the two I’ve cleaned this year, one had quite a bit of field corn and nothing else, while the other had straight soybeans and clover. The soybean bird told me that the tom I killed first thing off the roost spent the prior day or two nearly a mile away.

My bird was 100% sunflower seed in the shell. As for a lot of game hunting in the Northwoods if you want to be successful means you need to be located close to the residences of the North. I was actually a little surprised, as east and west there are not many homes, though north and south maybe they are not quite as far away… First I thought about it.

Since last weekend all I had close enough were hens, they seem to be eating the cut corn….either that or they were digging for bugs! Although I like Dan’s line of thinking for tomorrow morning!

Mine was 100% empty. Shot it at 9:30. Too busy chasing hens to eat????

Happens, but it’s somewhat rare at least from what I’ve found. Usually there’s at least a few tender greens in there, but those are the birds we like! Interested in coming to the call and not much else.
