Gonna give it a whirl with my bow for the first time this spring. Was thinking about shooting the same 3 blade expandable as my deer setup. Any reason not to do this or should I consider a peticular broadhead out there?

    Thanks for the advice!

    John:

What is your draw weight and length?

What brand 3 blade expandables are you shooting now??

I have had excellent luck with turkeys using the Rocket Aerohead 100 grain Hammerheads with a 2 inch cutting diameter.

    Kooty,

Take a look at South Dakota Gobbler part 2 video. It might make you think about shooting a bullhead. Good luck in whatever you decide.

I’m a 30″ draw length, shooting at approximately 67lbs right now. In the past I’ve shot Jackhammer expandables, but switched to the Rage 3 blade last fall.

Just getting the new bow tuned up. I’m really confident to 30 yards already with field tips. I’ll be getting outside this weekend for some “real world” practice.

IMO you will be just fine with the 3 blade Rage heads for turkeys. There are a number of good heads out there these days for turkeys but if you already have Rage 3 blades they will get the job done for you on turkeys as well.

Thanks Steve! I’ve got some used Rage 3’s and the practice head from last year that I plan to sight in with this weekend. Hope my block will hold up decent.

Now, if my guide can get one in close I’ll be happy. Hunting the 4th season could make it quite challenging with a bow.

Been real impressed so far with the Grim Reaper Razortip or Razorcut with 2″ expander cups. They fly exactly like a field point, and are the best penetrating mechanical on the market! Hope to have more results in the coming weeks.

    Kooty,

I will be shooting the Rocket Stricknines as i did last year out of my Alien X 125 grain 2″ cut 3 blade head. I shoot a 27.5″ 60′ draw. I wanted to try the Meat Seekers 2 blade 2″ cut but i won’t have time to order some w/ school

I’m going to try Spitfire XP’s same set up as for deer.

I think your guide already proved to you a couple of weeks ago that you will most likely get a chance! BTW – don’t guides get paid a fee?

Shoot the broadhead that gives you the most confidence with your equipment. Any broadhead on the market will kill a turkey with the proper shot placement. Spend your time and energy practicing and practicing for the moment of truth!

My fear is my guide won’t know what day it is. Can’t wait to get in the woods again!
