Well, The full body mount hen and the “bullhead” broadhead performed great Saturday morning! Had this one come in at 8 yds and let him have it. Just about took his head completely off. The only thing holding it on was a little piece of skin on the back of his neck. 8.5″ beard and 3/4″ spurs. Not a giant, but not bad for my first archery turkey. This was the only bird shot for our group of 4. Saw tons of birds, but other than this one, they wanted nothing to do with decoys or calling. We did get about 3 minutes of video of this guy coming in and punching out, but a buddy hasn’t sent it to me yet. I will try to put it on here when I get it.

Make no excuses for that tom, any bird taken with archery equipment is a good bird. Congrats, sounds like a great time, and it sounds like you out-did your buddies!

    First of all Congrats SuperDo!

    Awesome pic and story!

Secondly, Gut Easterns do make thier way into SD for a decent distance. I believe where Huettl hunts in SD (Missouri River Bottoms Souther SD) he has 3 different sub species, Eastern, Merriam and a RIO or a Mix??????

Congrats Super Do on the Turkey. I’m hoping to do that next week on Red River Gobbler.
