my youngest daughter and I are headed out with a mentor this weekend for our local chapters learn to hunt program, and although we are both pumped the forecast for showers and thunderstorms is a little deflating, figures beautiful all week until the one day you want it to be nice, just hope the weather doesnt make the weekend unhuntable as I know of about 30 kids who will be very heartbroken

I have a friend who is mentoring in the Wausau area and I know he has the blind ready to go and the shotgun sighted in. Good luck on your hunt chippee, hope the weather is not a hindrance!!!

Fear not Chippee! Turkey hunting in the rain can be very rewarding. It can be tough to keep comfortable, esp. kids, but your footsteps are quieter, the woods can be fairly quiet (depending on intensity of rain), and the birds still gobble.

Not to mention, when rain clears out of an area, there’s often no better time to be in the woods (already). Somehow heading out there after the rain clears means you’ve missed your window.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!

Chippee – here is my brothers spring turkey hunt in 2008 during a thunderstorm! Strong winds and rain and we still were able to get it done! Don’t let the rain get you down!
