Lots of left over tags and if you hunt with a bow you can buy them over the counter for the last two weeks of the season I believe, thats what I am going to do.

I was under the impression that you could buy these tags for gun hunting if you applied and were not drawn, but I am not sure on that, I know there is some confusion on this subject.

I was too Steve. I believe it was in the Post Bulletin, that made it sound that way. I’ve looked all over the MNDNR websited and can’t find anything in print that would suggest that. Hopefully someone else on here knows for sure.

I think they made it sound that way and everyone did read it that way, but they just added more tags for them season and are saying everyone should have a chance to hunt with the extra tags they put out on surplus .

    From the DNR Website:

Surplus (or undersubscribed) turkey hunt licenses are available to hunters who applied in the 2010 turkey lottery drawing but were unsuccessful. Surplus licenses will go on sale beginning March 15, 2010, at 5:00 p.m.

On Monday, March 22, at 8 a.m. the remaining surplus licenses will go on sale for anyone who does not already have a license, even if they did not apply for the 2010 spring turkey lottery. All turkey hunters are restricted to one permit for the 2010 spring season.

An archery spring turkey license can be purchased that is valid for the last two time periods only in any permit area with 50 or more permits per time period.

I am getting home from the gym about the time you’re trying to wipe the sleep from your eyes and hide the bacon stripped underwear.
