    Ok fellow turkey nuts

What season do you apply for and why???

Personally I apply for the earliest season available.

    The pros are

    1.Unpressured turkeys.

2.Turkeys are very patternable at this time.

3.If you want a heavy turkey this is your best chance.

    The cons

1.Weather can be bad.(snow and cold)

2.Turkeys can be in big flocks. Making them harder to hunt or they might not even be on the land you have access to.

We are truely spoiled in WI. I should draw a tag for season A, B ,or C and be able to buy tags for seasons D,E, and F. Multiple tags for E and F if I chose.

Anyone else have a theory to share ???

First off you guys have it made in WI

I guess I have hunted the early season here in MN with ok luck but I like picking a season about in the middle when the hens are starting to nest and old Tom is out looking for a new chick It has worked out great for us in the last 5 years and thinking we will keep doing this for years to come. Plus the weather is nice

We will see if you can guide me to my 1st WI Tom this year Pat

I go with c in mn with my past hunts i have had good luck with c seems like the bird are easy to pattern and come great to the calls weather is petty good yeah some got hens but the place i hunt normally has way more toms then hens so gettin one to break away normally is no problem ol toms hate when it when you got a jake in your decoy spread

For me, i prefer the last two weeks in MN for archery. One of the main reasons is that i have college and the beginning of the season opens right after i get done with finals So its a great way to unwind and celebrate the beginning of summer Second, i have had great luck with birds responding to calls and the birds that i have had encounters with seem less pressured and more comfortable with my decoys. However, i have had bad luck using a full strutting tom or jake this late in the season. I hear this is pretty common late in the season with birds as they stay out of range or meander off once they see them The final reason is the length of the season. I prefer a longer season which was the first reason why i took up archery hunting in the first place, so a two week season allows me to not feel that pressured into getting on a bird the first day
