    Guys,

I know that MN DNR tried to plant some turkeys in north central MN a few years back but I thought that the flock did not make it through the first couple winters?

I was just driving up to my Mille Lacs place on HWY. 18 east of Mille Lacs probably only about 5 miles from the big lake and had 2 big Toms cross the road in front of me. By the looks of them they had to be 2-3 years old anyway. Is the DNR still trying to get them established or are these birds survivors from a few years back?

    Just curious?

My folks have place about 5 miles east of Mille Lacs, we first started seeing turkeys about 3 years ago with more and more sightings in the area each year.

We have a place about 8 miles east of the lake on Hwy 18. Over the past couple years we’ve been seeing birds all over. I had a flock of about 20 out in our hay field while I was checking out my deer stands last weekend. Shouldn’t be more than another year or two they’ll have a season open up there (there is a season south of 18, but we’re on the north side).

My uncle shot a nice tom in milaca this year. By the sounds of it, he could of shot about 20 of them.

Funny you bring that up. Just got home from the hunting property up north of Remer, I had a hen in our field just yesterday. Ended up walking right under my stand. I have nerver heard of anyone seeinga bird that far north.

We have some land 18 miles west of Mille Lacs and we’ve been seeing turkeys on it for the last 3 years. They really exploded and now there’s a lot of them (except for the one Tina put the this past spring).

We have seen a few around the Blackduck area and snapped a phone picture of a tom with hen in tow south of Red Lake about 25 miles, can’t find it now but I sent it to Joel as proof I seen it.
