me and the mrs tag teamed a tom this am will post more after work

ok ive been hunting these turkeys for about 5 days now with the cat and mouse game going strong today we won set the blind mon after work had to wait a bit for a tom to leave the field never a bad thing today me and the mrs got there 445 awful quiet about 530 some gobbled off a ways then 2 hens come out and make there way across the field in front of us about 40 yards out i was pretty happy with my blind placement so we sat and waited about 6 2 toms show up and follow where the hens went but just a bit farther out then one wanders in to 43 yards the mrs has a 20 gauge remington 870 and has got them before at that range so i gave her the green light and yelped softly he picks up his head and boom she shoots and he goes straight up in the air and flys towards us she tells me her gun jammed so i drop to one knee and try to catch up with him and fire down he goes (but you can tell in the pic i didnt catch up with him ) i know its kinda a boring hunt without calling and chasing but its a different sense of pride to win the cat and mouse game finally

dont worry that pic wont win the photo contest for sure

    Sweet!

I’m excited to hear the birds are still motivated. I will be hunting in WI this Friday-Sunday for the last 3 days of the season…should be interesting!

I’ll be chasing again Friday and then taking a budy of mine Saturday and Sunday! Hey gut, you must not have any birds left on your place! Looking forward to the pics!

Good job! Sounds like you didn’t even spend enough time out there to get loaded down with ticks!

the ones that are still around are pretty smart or pretty lucky i have 8 farms to hunt and could have more with these late seasons its pretty easy to get permission as far as pics they are ugly story is boring only called once to get him to put his head up

congrats on another bird! having a great year. did you use decoy(s) on this one? will be out chasing again starting tomorrow night. I haven’t had any luck this year with decoys, all of them have been running and gunning.

The only bird I called in was thanks to B-Mobile. Brought the hen with in 70 yards and the tom broke off from her to kick some tail. The only problem was I wasn’t doing the shooting! But my buddy did harvest his first bird ever!

Good stuff and congrats Pat! You were having better luck than us that day, that’s for sure. We were just sick with toms, but just came short of converting.

You’re wife’s a sweetheart for claiming her gun jammed so you could shoot it.

Anymore tags you’re going to fill?

still have 3 tags as we bought one yesterday when we registered him

they won the cat and mouse game today flew down but couldnt get em any closer than 65 yards
2 toms 4 jakes and 4 hens the 2 toms then skirted us and went up in the “bull pen” and gobbled there heads off for 2 hours at everything i would do i even tried the gobble tube they would answer the challenge but wouldnt leave the pasture gonna “tweek” the blind this afternoon patterns are changing a bit as the farmers starting to work the fields were are hunting wish it would have stayed wet for a couple more days
