Arrowed a nice bird Thursday morning! I can honestly say the past 2 weeks have been draining! I could have filled my tags many times over with a gun, but those days are over. The birds are henned up where I am hunting and want nothing to do with coming to decoys or calls–they want you to come to them! I had a gobbler come in to 40 yds and strut for 2 hours and gobble just out of range, wanting the DSD hen to come to him. While he was strutting off to my right I was able to sweet talk a hen from my left, right up to the decoy and her boyfriend followed her close. At 10 yds in full strut I drew and buried the arrow. I watched him run around the corner, he expired just out of sight. He sported a 10 inch beard, and 1 inch spurs. All the days in the field this spring payed off in a second !
