What a great second season my huntin buddy Jim and i had.We found a nice group of toms wednesday evening the nite befor our opener. So we did our home work and put them to bed. The next morning found us in the Double Bull waiting for that first gobble.Man alive did the woods explode at daylight .We had 3 toms within eyesight of us.Boy did they put on the best concert ive ever been to .It wasnt long and i made afew clucks and one soft purr on the slate and they were on us. Jim took the first bird that morning at a meer 10 yards. That was the end of hunting for us that day untill evening. That evening we went back out and put some more birds to bed. The next morning was as close to a carbon copy hunt as you can get. I got bird 15 yards from the blind. It was a short an sweet hunt. i will find myself back in the turkey woods during 4th season. Good luck fellow hunters.

Awesome birds……they look big, get any weights on them? Iowa consistently kills the heaviest birds in the nation. Almost yearly. Being early season, just wondering what those went?

Congrats on a great hunt either way, that’s the way it’s supposed to go!
