The season in 346 started out with the weather being a factor to our hunt, what else can you expect from MN?! Monday morning was cold, windy, and rainy. We heard several birds, but were not presented with any oppurtunities. The next couple days proved to be difficult to pull the birds out of the sidehills. The topside of the bluff we were hunting was a clear cut and has always provided alot of action. Finally on Wednesday, one guy in our group managed to get a bird to commit. The bird actually came out of the sidehills and walked within 5 feet of where he had parked his truck. He watched the bird come in hot and was able to put it down.
Thursday came around and finally at 11 am I was able to get a big guy to commit and came in and was put down at 10 yards!!
Both birds were 21 lbs, one with 10″ beard, another with a 10.5″ beard. Spurs both 1 1/8″. Overall we went 2/4 but had a great time!! Now it is off to Nebraska tomorrow for some Merriams!!
