Not much excitment behind this hunt…got the phone call one of the many Toms in the river bottom was in his yard with hens gobbling and also strutting in front of his patio window! Knowing the size of someof the Tom’s in there this year i had to go NOW so i got out of work and hammered it for my 10 minute ride east. Pulled in the driveway and got ready for stalk if thats what we wanna call it. This valley has a couple house built right in the woods and there yards are well known strutting area so off i went. Played my cards right and here is the end result…..25 lbs, 11 inch beard (PB) and 1 1/2″ spurs (PB). One spur was broke off due to fighting but got 2 of the 3 PB’s out of this bird. I knew he was fired up for hens when I snapped a twig and he gave out 3 fast gobbles!

It is not allowing me to post pictures at the moment i will check back later and add them for everyones viewing pleasure

    Congrats Erick.

A new server/hardware is being installed on the fishing and hunting sides and photos will be down for a lil bit yet.

Congratulations on a fine bird. Sounds like that bird was the complete package! Was one spur broken off, or did it just fail to grow? We’ve taken a handful over the years that have had only one spur, and on the other leg absolutely nothing.

Either way, it matters not. Great bird, and good work!

The other one is there just maybe an inch with chunks missing off it. This bird we are about positive is the “dragger” we watched move across the meadow this past weekend. The picture is from when i got home but this beard is my first ever where it is not 1 or 2 strands that make the 11″ mark it is almost the entire beard!
