Has anyone tried this?

My brother and I have the same season (next week) and our goal is to bag two toms with our bows using two Covert blinds! I’ll be filming out of one and hopefully shooting out of it and he will be in another one right next to me. Set up is the question I have….how far apart should the blinds be from one another? We will be set up on a green field that is about 75 yards across by about 200 yards long. My thought was to have one facing West (back to the sun when it comes up and on the edge of the wood line) and have the other one about 30 yards out and facing a little north east! Putting B-Mobile and some hen decoys between us! Does anyone have a better set up plan or do you think this would work? Has any IDO members tried this before?

    Mike, you bet.

In that type of a situation, we’d usually place the two blinds about 30 yards apart from one another, on a slight diagonal with the dekes being an equidistant 15 yard shot for each blind. In other words, if you drew a straight line between the two blinds, the decoys would be off to one side or the other of that line by 10-20 yards horizontally. This ensures you won’t be shooting at one another.

Similarly, we’d try to place both of the blinds (or the whole group of blinds if you will) towards the corner or funneling edge of the field that you’re most likely to see birds. This way, even if a bird gets behind one of the blinds, there’s still a chance for a shot, and you’re still covering the escape routes.

Make sure you have signals figured out before hand in terms of who’s shooting and what-not.

This setup works well, and you cover twice the territory!
