It was an exciting hunt, we had set up on a roosted tom at first only to have him fly down the other way and completely ignore us, a half hour later this one and another come in silent, after a short show we get him in our sights i confirm shes ready and give a couple clucks, up pops his head and i say shoot i cant she says, the pump action was not closed all the way and would not fire. she (and I) are very bummed thinking its over as he walks away, a few soft clucks and he looks back and comes straight in to our decoys we regroup and as he pops his head this time she drops the hammer on him, it was then the celebration started, I think I was more excited than when I will be when I finally make my first kill

First one on the board for the year! Great to see, and glad to see you guys recovered nicely and took the bird cleanly. I’m sure this one will stick in your mind wayyyy more than your own.
