I don’t have the 20 or 26mile range ones but I do have both brands and I personally think they are both equal. If I had my choice I would go with the longest range which should equal more power so that would equal better talking.

I always get the Midland. No matter what you buy, you won’t get the range advertised, but they have come a long way. The batteries on the Midland last a long time even in the cold on one charge

While I don’t have the long range ones…I think mine are 15 mile, 17, something like that.

This may be of some interest…

The wife and I purchased 3 different brands in one day…we wanted to see if the advertised ranges were correct and which brand had the best range. Midland, cobra and motorola were the three brands we bought. We needed a decent set for hunting so we could keep in contact, she was new to hunting, my spot was miles away… We put fresh batteries in each unit. The wife stayed home(outside), I got in the car and drove up the road, we live in pretty flat country. We kept in constant contact until the connection was fuzzy, at that point I got out of the car, the signal was a bit better. Drove another half mile tried again, etc.,etc… Bottom line is NONE of the brands really out produced the other, they ALL got about 6 miles plus minus a 1/4 mile. NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE ADVERTISED 15 MILES!!
We ended up keeping the Motorola’s and returning the others, the motorolas didn’t have the longest range out of the three but the clarity was better than the rest at all distances.

As a crow flies my hunting spot is 2.72 miles away from her spot, thick woods. We couldn’t talk to each other but the page worked, barely! Just enough to notify me in case of a emergency.

I have two different models of Motorolas and they both have very good clarity.

When they say a 15 mile radio, doesn’t that mean from Point A to Point B then back to Point A??? All of these radios I’ve messed with are very dependant on line of sight also.
