In the past two years, I just haven’t been satisfied with the results I get from this gun and the standard turkey choke that came with it. It’s a backup gun for me, but I’m still thinking about getting it dialed in a bit better.

Anyone shooting this gun? What does yours seem to like?

My M2000 is my primary turkey gun. I get great patterns with the factory turkey choke and Federal #5 with the Flite Control Wads. It has taken several birds over 40 yards and 1 slightly over 50.

throw that factory choke away. Mine cost me a Rio in Texas because I thought it was stubborn and patterned “good enough”.

    Jerad:

I haven’t been able to get anything good going yet myself either. As you said, satisfied with the “good-enough for now” kind of thing and the patterns it throws.

What aftermarket are you using now?

I am currently using an HS strut under-taker choke. It is one bad-ash combo shooting federal copper-plated 5’s. I have killed out to 40 and would try a 45 if given the right opportunity. The choke is cheap too.

I forget what the constriction of it is, but I know that it is the tightest available.

ok just to compare something to

    remington nitro 5’s undertaker choke

    35 45 yards

im going to get more targets and more shells and try the factory choke later this week would love to try the winchester extended but not for $45 a box

looks like federal 5’s for me and if hes 25 yards hes gonna get his head taken off

    Gut:

Great to see the patterns as the snow is falling here, making me feel like patterning is weeks away.

Have you had any jam issues with your Stoeger? Mine had a bent barrel from the factory (patterned 6″ left), and the bolt didn’t always lock forward. Any other issues with that gun?

Also, do yourself a favor and try to Win. Xtended #6’s!!! If you’re ever up my way, bring the gun and we’ll test a pattern or three. I know they’re expensive, but in 3 of my guns, and several of my buddies guns, they pattern far better than the next closest try. Only my brothers gun prefers Hevi13 better. I think you’ll find that the smaller pellets (which you can get away with as they’re heavier and hit harder) in the hevi-type offerings will pattern better for you.

Make sure your choke is rated for it, there were some issues in years past with choke tubes “scoring”.

    hi joel

as far as jamming not yet havent had the gun long did take it on a pheasant hunt and kept the barrel very warm

ok ill break down and get some winchester extended

i normally dont get to awful excited about patterning because i rarely have to shoot more than 30 yards but this is kinda fun

Yah, you’re right, if all goes well you never take that long a shot anyway.

Like I said, if you’re ever up my way, the shells are on me! That’s how confident I am about those shells. At least the 3 and 3.5″ in #6’s.

I don’t think he’s gonna make it….. Hope you’re satisfied with the results. I’d say it looks like a great pattern!
