Jan. 9th feels like a long way off, but from experience, let me tell you to do it NOW!!! The holidays will come and everyone will be busy, then you get back into the swing of things after the new year, and it’ll slip your mind!

My friend had a problem at one of the ELS agents after the original deadline but saw online that it was extended so he called down to St. Paul and they said that it was not. Anyone try to buy a license after the first deadline. I have my app in already but was going to apply for my son.

Thanks for the reminder! If you apply for a tag and do not get drawn, can you still purchase an archery tag later on? Or do you have to decide to purchase an archery tag from the get go?

Archery tag is always an option over the counter, at any time, whether you applied or didn’t earlier. So long as you’ll be hunting in a zone which has 50 or more permits per time period.

I apply in MN frequently with the hopes of securing an earlier season, then hunt the bow or a surplus season if this doesn’t work out for me. This gets me out there with a bow more often, and it builds preference points when I want to take a stab at the “A” season. Typically, I find this to be an ill-afforded luxury, as the birds can be extremely henned up at this time, and weather can be less than favorable!

No promblem Brad, I’m sure you’ll be helping me out with some of the WI turkey regs one of these years. I’ve only hunted there a few times. Seems like the non-res. draw over there is basically restricted to “E” season or later if my memory serves me well? Alot of opportunity over there, esp. in the neck of the woods you hunt!

Btw, excellent work this year and last on the big deer. I’ve been following the posts that have chronicled your run-ins with those bucks, and it’s exciting. Great writing, and the pics are the icing on the cake!
