I couldn’t be more dissapointed with drawing “C” season. Snow, rain and cold temps, I’m looking for some sugestions on what to do. I’m thinking the birds will be quiet so “running and gunning” is my game plan. I’m assuming the birds will be out of the woods becasue of the rain, so a spot and stalk is also in my bag of tricks.

Also, I’ve never hunted birds until sunset, is it worth it to put in a full day of “work”.

Some of the best turkey hunting is in the evenings if you know your birds and your property. Knowing where they roost is the key. If your setup is off a little and the birds fly up out of range, slip out after dark and you’ll know right were to be in the morning.

You are right on them being quiet. I just got in from hunting, we got in the blind and called for about 15-20 and had nothing. Stood up to get out of the blind and one gobled about 100yards away. Had three toms come about 40 yards out and one completely circled us but never came within bow range. After chirpin and purring for about 45 minutes he finally left and never made another sound after that first gobble. It was a good hunt though, I will be back at it in the morning

Not a gobble heard. Exteremly windy and periods of light, light snow. Had some hens give a look but didn’t even see a tom until I was in my truck leaving at 4:50, just coming out to a corn field in our valley, they must have been on the verge of feeding. Seen a flock on I-90 on the way home in a corn field feeding as well, right around 5 bells must be feeding time. Couldn’t find a tail for my Pretty Boy so the picture has to do for now……just not in gale force winds.

Well got 4 more mornings, hopefully we’ll get some different results.
