I am going to try turkey hunting this spring with archery for the first time! Just looking for feedback on suggestions on using broadheads or alternative heads??? I was planning on using my 4 blade slick trick 100g. but wondering if there was a better option??? Thanks.

You definitely want to be shooting an expandable broadhead for turkeys!! If you go on a hunting website and take a look at the vitals, you will notice that they are a very small target compared to a deer!! I bow hunted turkeys for the first time last season and took a jake using the Rocky Mtn. Snypers. I had used my last arrow w/ a Sidewinder on an electric fence trying to take one of the jakes 5 minutes before i shot my jake

The Snypers are 1 3/8″ cutting diameter and i wouldn’t shoot anything smaller than that. I would recommend shooting Rage 2 or 3 blade, Sidewinder(1 1/2″) or something in that category.

Turkey Terror just came out w/ a fixed broadhead that looks pretty good http://www.americanbroadhead.com/turkey_heads.shtml

I am shooting the Magnus Bullheads this year It’s similar to the Guillotine but is made to shoot farther, spin more, and you can shoot this at the base of the neck and get penetration

Just remember that it is very hard to shoot a turkey w/ a bow and i can’t tell you how rewarding it is to shoot one w/ archery equipment The bigger the better cutting diameter is what i go by when turkey hunting!!

I have shot a broadhead very simular to the turkey terror, the best part about them is that they don’t pass through the bird. Instead they hang up inside the cavity and rip apart everything inside while the tom is trying to fly away. Worked really good. Make sure you tune down your bow. The guillotine’s are pretty cool too. I watched the video on them, those guys were pretty good at taking the heads right off of those birds. Good luck.
