Well, what can I say. It was the most confusing year I have ever had turkey hunting. The birds did not want to talk at all. They did not want anything to do with hens after the first week of the season. Now, this may not be true for everyone, just my observations from my hunts. I hunted 4 out of 6 seasons, either my tag, buddies, or my wifes. No, I did not shoot anybodies turkey just went with. Anyway my wife killed one on the first day but it was not until late afternoon and we had to ambush it. She made a great shot at about 30 paces. Glad to see her finially get one after her 7 year drought. I managed to get one on the last day of my season. Was not pretty. It flew and I shot and hit it. It did not go down right away though. Had to look for awhile before finding it, but we did. Still good too. One morning I did get to witness two longbeards battle it out for a good 10 minutes. It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. They were out in the middle of the field jumping up spuring each other. Then would lock heads around each other and go at it. It was really an awesome site to see. None the less it was fun, but difficult this year. Hope next year the birds talk a little more. Here are some pics if they will work.
What a year!
