I have at least 2 Gobblers dropping down from the roost and staying put on a steep hill side. I hunt the field edge and they do not want to come out. It is to thick to go in after them and if I go in before dark they will locate me for sure. Any suggestions!!!

If you can, I’d try to set up in a different location. Try the other side of the hill, or just move 100-200yrds in either direction. Either these birds are hunter shy, or there is something that is holding them up from getting to you. Another option would be to try to hunt them a different time of day, the birds might be hanging up with real hens. Try mid-day?

My guess is that there is also hens roosting with them, and there not gonna leave the hens to come to you i would try some LITE calling clucks and soft purrs ,right after they fly down, just to give them your location, then wait till about 10am or so alot of times when the hens go to nest, the toms will go back to look for the hen they heard earlier. also play the odds thing if for 2 days they have noty come out on that edge , but it is a place where they do alot its just a matter of time. hopefully these ideas might help you out some. good luck
