Man were they going this morning. Got my bird about 35 minutes into the hunt. I believe that there were over 10 gobbling this morning. Man it was fun. I was going to move to try and get closer to the action when I saw 2 hens headed my way . The Toms (I thought there was only two) soon came over the hill behind them. There ended up being 7 Toms!! following these two hens. The 2nd biggest one was the only one that was going to present a shot so I waited for him to get as close as he was gonna get and shot. 23.5 pounds, 10 1/4″ beard and 3/4″ spurs. Not the biggest bird ever but I am happy.

Good job! Turkey hunting is the easiest or the hardest hunting there is. It just depends on the day and the mood of the birds. 23# is a good bird anywhere you go. My bird this year was only 18#, 10″ beard and 1″ spurs. I think he spent a little too much time strutting and not enough eating!
If you slice the breast meat about 1/4″ thick and bread it and deep fry it will taste just like chicken tenders from Culvers. Cook the legs in a crock pot for about 12 hours to get the meat tender enough to eat.

Hey, I have been turkey hunting 5 years and have yet to take a shot! Your bird could way 10lbs and it would be bigger than anything I have shot. Congratulations on a great bird!

Nice bird my man!! I figured with the wind dying today would be a great day. One of my co-workers is out with his daughter on her first hunt, I hope they did as well as you did!

Congratulations Brent on a great bird! Reminds me of a similar story that happened to me 3 years ago. I had 6 Toms all together along with 2 hens and two jakes. There was 3 of us who had to belly crawl 80 yards across a hay field in order to get set up in a small patch of woods. Finally one of the Toms made his way over and I got him.
