Didn’t anybody draw a first season tag on IDA?

Yep…just haven’t had a chance to post yet. I shot my first, a 17 pound tom with a 5 inch beard…my buddy shot a 21 pound bird with a 10 inch beard. It was the first for both of us. He had his by shortly after 6 a.m. and I had mine by 7:30.

We heard lots of gobbling and saw lots of hens. This was down by Good Thunder, MN.

Sounds like a great morning. Congrats on your first bird. Did the gobbling continue strong after fly down?

Thanks. It was a fun morning.

There was some gobbling, but by about 6:30 or so it was pretty sporadic. The one that I ended up shooting gobbled a few times about 150 yards away probably 10-15 minutes before I saw him. I could hear him getting a little bit closer, but he was pretty silent as he got closer to me.
