I thought I had him when this hen came to my decoy and he came a running. They were within 20 yrds but behind these trees and I couldn’t see either bird. Then I saw the fan and was all set to shoot but the struting bird was the hen. The gobbler had gone back to his strut zone about 75 yrds away and the hen stayed there struting for an hour. That is a first for me.

i had a hen strut 2 years ago and attack my decoy. my mind couldn’t comprehend what was going on and i kept convincing myself it was a jake. i never did see a visible beard on it….. it’s good to know someone else witnessed the same thing i did.

I had one with a beard once strut for the deke, and then she’d stretch her neck out to the deke, then back into strut. She stayed a little too long though, and I shot her.8 1/2 beard, but it was skinny.

I’ve witnessed 2 hens strutting over the years. Both times I was using a decoy.
