The field by work was packed full of them. Hens and Toms scratching up some grubs.
I don’t envy you today. Better days are ahead.

Not me either…..still snowing here, about 5″ on the ground so far, another 1 – 3 coming before it quits tonight. Did venture out in the truck this morning, nothing talkin’, everyone’s cuddled up in the pines for today. I’ve got a few more days of better hunting than this.

We are set up right underneath a nice stand of Norways, but not a bird talking in our area. If the turkeys would have been like the cardinals, crows & robins, getting that first bird for my friend would have been easy. Back to Tremp for lunch, nothing anywhere to be seen. Sat this afternoon til the snow covered the dekes and said to heck with it. We were pushing 6″ by the time we left at 4 p.m.
Back at it starting at 4:30 to make sure we get there a little earlier. North winds hould help a little also. Hope that tom is fired up, so I can get the snow off my boat and put it in the river this trip. Good luck tomorrow!!! J2, I hear you let the Dodge Boy hunt a few bunnies and ‘yotes up your way. Hope we both get birds and can meet up!!!

Mark,
Good luck tomorrow. I have to wait until Friday, #1 son called and needs some assistance for movng day tomorrow in Eau Claire. We ended up getting 7 inches of this lovely stuff, so I don’t think I’ll miss alot tomorrow. Dodge Boy and AmWatson used to hunt here, but DB moved out of the area, and Mike hung up his hunting boots…….so the critters are running amuck around here. I even have two bunnies that have taken up residence under the grainery. They just sit in the driveway apron when we go in and out of the house. Gutsy little buggers.
My husband has a high school buddy living in Minacqua, just talked to him this past weekend, trying to make plans to go up and visit next month. He’s a retired cop, and his wife runs 2 stores of some kind up there.
Give a shout if you’re in the area, always glad to meet IDA members.
