It’s hard to tell from the pic, but there are 5 rooster pheasants in with the turkeys. They are both making a big comeback this year here on the farm.March 28, 2007 at 7:48 pm #554438pic 7

March 29, 2007 at 2:39 pm #30356geez you guys, I was born in Chippewa and hunt just south & west of Arcadia. Stay with a frind of mine in Trempeauleau (he works at Ashley) and hunt northwest of there. Taking a friend for his first trip and hopefully can get down there for my third season tag. I still mainly use it for an excuse to get down to the river and fish though. Makes for really long days if the bird doesn’t commit.
By the way really good pics and great to hear the pheasants are making a comeback!!! Also hoping to get down there to scout the land a couple days yet as the season draws near!!!

March 29, 2007 at 9:42 pm #30380Well, you are much younger than me, probably more the age of my sons……Gene and Grant Schleusner……also have a big family still in Eau Claire, maiden name was Fisher.
We are East of Arcadia, just south of Hwy 95; when you get to Newcombe Valley tavern, take a right, we’re just down the road. PM when you are going to be in town, should try to meet and say Howdy, always nice to meet fellow IDA people.

April 1, 2007 at 5:15 pm #30419I was fortunate and bought an over the counter MN tag for the last season (5/25 – 5/31). I will be hunting south of Cannon Falls.
I also drew a WI tag for the 5th season (May 9-13, Zone 19) and bought another tag over the counter for the 6th season (May 16-20, Zone 19). I will be hunting in Pepin County.
My Significant Other and my Dad also drew a MN tag for the last season near Brainerd where we own some land. It’s truly amazing how these birds continue to move north. I think it would be fulfilling to harvest a mature tom on your own land.

April 1, 2007 at 8:11 pm #30423Most definitely a treat to get one off your own back forty. The first year I hunted here I got my biggest tom, 29 1/2#, haven’t had one that close yet, but this spring I saw quite a few big ones. Now it depends how the toms split up and which ones settled in which valley.
Good luck on all your seasons.

April 11, 2007 at 4:37 am #30598Good luck!!! Got the blind set up and hope the birds will move a little bit near where we are set up. Staying put until noon, then going to look and see where they might be. If we don’t see them, then back for more time in the blind.
