Be careful out there Lip. I think they can still use a rifle for turkeys. I remember yrs ago seeing a picture in outdoor news with a guy holding a turkey. Under the picture it said he got within 250yds to take the shot. lol.
My neighbor is in the guards. He has went to the base at Rapid City several times. The last time he went he had time for turkey hunting. And it will be the last time. Someone shot at his decoys. He didnt know where the bullets came from. He got the hell out of there

Lip, Last year was my first attempt at bowhunting turkeys and I choose a N.A.P. expandable, I believe it’s called a spitfire. I did a little research prior to trying it with a bow and found everything I read stressed the importance of the arrow staying in the bird and not passing through. So I cranked my draw weight down 15 pounds to somewhwere around 50-55lbs being the optimal. It’s a tough decision to mess with a bow you count on for deer but it should be done. Also if you search around online regarding aimpoints on a tom from different angles you can find diagrams and photos on spots to place the arrow. Good luck it’s a heck of a feat to get a bird by bow, I failed last year but got a few feathers for memories!

Dropping your draw weight will help when you have those long holds when you can’t move also! I have many opportunities last year and it was much better than with a shotgun. I missed 2 last year and chose not to shoot at another because it was skitterish. Both misses were clean and one was excitement and miss judging distance and the other was a twig.
Lot of fun!
