my biggest turkey

    well i went hunting for turkeys with my dad we got out at about 5:30am and heard a bunch of gobbling and so we had to get our blind set up real quick before the turkeys came it was light out by now and all the gobbling stoped we didnt think we were going to get anything but all the sudden my dad says there a big tom coming straight to us he saw our decoys and went right for them he started strutin and then he lifted his head up and BOOM got him he weighed 29 pounds with a 10 inch beard.

    Is it not only your biggest but your first ??? By the way that is huge the Mn. state record is around 30 lbs.

    Sounds like a good hunt.This must have been a spring hunt, Iowas fall turkey seasons run GUN OCT 16th – DEC 1. Bow only runs OCT 1 – DEC 1 & DEC 18 – JAN 10th. Congrats on a big tom .

    They do grow big in Iowa. For the last three years my turkey weights have been 27, 25 and 25. Yours is bigger than I have shot, but I’m not surprised. Way to go. Maybe mine will be that big this year. We know how to grow them heavy in Iowa.
