Good luck to Lntony2.
Do prefrence points in IA carry over if you don’t apply for the following years season. i.e. I applied in 2002, didn’t get drawn and haven’t applied since. Is my pref. point gone? I can’t remember how IA works, I’m a NR.April 12, 2005 at 12:45 pm #356306Congrats to your Bro!!!

I used to hunt southern Iowa for turkeys but the price has gotten rediculous for a NR tag and you have to draw. Been hunting NE for about five years now and it’s awesome, only bad thing is there’s too many birds. All I need is one, and it makes it a tad frustrating when there’s too many to compete with as far as calling & getting them to come in. I will still pay the fee to bowhunt deer in Iowa, but not turkey.

April 26, 2005 at 12:57 pm #6733No doubt IA price tags are high, but its too much fun to pass up. How is NE for gaining access to land? Do you run into any Rio’s or hybrids where you hunt there? I leave for MO Thursday, its not bad down there either. $145 for 2 birds over the counter. Heading over to WI the week of May 11th. Funny how a guy can get drawn in WI for 6 straight years and in that time been drawn twice in my home state. Will be bowhunting in MN the last week.

bustumupPosts: 20April 27, 2005 at 5:30 pm #6744I have found it pretty tough to get on land in NE, but have found a couple that I’ve stuck with. I hate to think about having to try and find a new farm if I lost these. I have a couple farms in Missouri also, where bouts do you go in Missouri. The farms I hunt butt right up to Iowa in North-Central/Western Missouri. I haven’t tried turkey down there yet but saw a bunch last fall bowhunting.

April 28, 2005 at 1:26 pm #6745Probably not to far from where you are talking, we stay right in Bethany and hunt around there too. Lots of birds in that area. Hopefully we can get a couple of toms away from the hens long enough to take em. I’ve heard they are pretty hened up right now.
