In the past when i have shot turkeys in the fall I just snuck up on them, but was thinking of a new aproach this year. I was wondering if anybody out there has ever tried busting up a flock then calling them back. I am just curious how it works and how often it works?

Bustin turkeys is a blast. The hard part is usually gettin
them to go in all directions, but if they don’t,you still got a good chance of calling one in.Try to get ahead of the side busters, and be ready. They can come in at any time. Also
if you hear them roost, you can bump em,and then call em in the mornin. Its as good as spring time,if not better.Have fun

I went out this afternoon thinking I may be able to get my fall turkey and do a little deer scouting. Found lots of big scrapes and since I kind of know where the turkey roost I set up my folding chair and hunkered down next to a big tree and enjoyed the peace and quite. After an hour or so I heard some noise down the ravine and I turned to slowly to watch a couple of deer. After about a couple of minutes of watching them I turned back around to see two toms about 30 yards out as they go into the I gotcha mode. Cluck cluck cluck gone. I was using a soft box call every fifteen minutes or so and I think that is why they came in, I just happend to be watching the wrong direction. Oh well tomorrow night in a slightly new position. This is the last weekend of turkey season so get out and enjoy the nce weather. Steve
