Turkey blind setups youth and windows

Planning on trying out turkey hunting the second weekend of the season. Not too experienced in it. Setup the old mans blind and everything is in pristine shape, but I realized the window height is high for the little guy to shoot out of with the chairs I have. He could do it but there would be no good rest for the gun. Wondering what others have done for setups in blinds for youth and windows. I tried multiple chairs. Am I better off going no blind and having him sit with the back to a tree?

    setup

He likely would be OK standing and using a shooting stick of some sort. Buy one or make one, there are a ton of patterns out on the interweb.

Bring a couple of seat pads with you, it’s good to be mobile while turkey hunting. A change of scenery often makes the difference between frustration and excitement with kids in tow. Also bring binoculars. Even if you aren’t seeing turkeys there is always something to look at. Eagles, turkey vultures, other raptors, bluebirds… the list of things moving around this time of year is endless.

When the bird is getting somewhat close, have Him sit on/against your knee and use shooting sticks.

My daughter used a tripod shooting stick and a insulated padded seat on the directors chair. Simple wooden barstool also works well.

I hope he bags one. Sounds like fun no matter what.

I wouldn’t go without a blind, especially with a young kid, to hunt turkeys. You will both basically have to wear gillie suits and be statues, otherwise the turkeys are gone. You can get away with some minimal movement in a blind.

We lucked out and got one. He called him right in. Distance was a bit much for him and he told me to shoot.
