I received gift card from Scheels and decided to invest in a quality icerod.I generally fish for crappies hole hopping with small jigs and plastic. Any suggestions on which rod would work best?

Bullwhip would be my first choice, followed closely by the fusion.

For jigs and plastics, I would recommend the Bullwhip or Precision Noodle, you can also use either for small spoons (1/16oz, maybe 1/12oz)

Sounds like the exact style of 95% of my fishing, huge fan of the Bullwhip! I have mine paired with a Ceymar C-10 Reel and couldn’t be happier with the set up. Hope to add a 2nd Bullwhip next year.

    Bullwhip.

You’ll want to decide the right length for you. If you’re mostly outside, maybe consider 36″. I have 32″ and that’s been about right for me, though.

Oh. And make sure and invest in a decent case. They are great rods. And, um, ‘delicate’.

    Easy one. Bullwhip.

I like the Precision Noodle more for bluegill. The Bullwhip is always my number one for crappie.

I’d get a 30-32″. I fish with my 30″ outside all the time. I’m not a huge fan of long Noodle/panfish rods because the longer the rod, the more the tip tends to quiver from hand-shake or wind, and that affects subtle bite detection. I like them in the 28-32″ range. I go 32-38″ for walleyes.

With the Bullwhip, and almost all custom rods for that matter, when you add length, all you’re adding is butt-section. The butt on the Bullwhip is pretty stout. I’ve never caught a crappie or any other fish that can bend the rod down to the butt. The drag takes over well before that.

The grip is a question. Those who like to pencil-grip the rod tend to like split grips. Those who like an overhand grip tend to go with a full grip. I personally like split grips and pencil-grip holds on my panfish rods, and full handles and overhand grips on my walleye rods. Some of the TUCR rods I’ve sold on here are simply due to me wanting to change the grip.

Bullwhip I have 2 of them with sienna 500 and love them.Like shocker said decide what length works for you. I like the 32in.but it seems a little long in my one man shanty.I fortunantly don’t spend much time in it.

Is the little shorter…. 28-30” still good for use in a shack? Or by going short do you lose some of the desired action?

Considering the post title is “Tuned up Custom Rods” one would have to think that a tuned up would be an answer. Right??

Definitely bullwhip if your going to just get one. I have 3 and love them. 2 paired with freefall ghosts and one with ceymar c-10. I added a 36″ fusion this year and if you pencil grip it I don’t have any issues in my otter cabin. You will love a tucr. They see too notch.

There’s really only 1-3 answers you could get. Precision Noodle would work, but it’s a little light for what the OP described. Bullwhip is most likely the perfect fit. QuickTip or Fusion could also work, but would be a little too heavy for what the OP described.

I fish in an Otter Cottage with a 32″ Bullwhip. It is the maximum length I would like to use in that shelter. A 28″ or 30″ would be totally fine inside, but I prefer the 32″.
