finally got a few minutes. headed up to Champlain with the water high, lotts beer and a room for 3 nights. quick stop at a casino to cash in a winning lottery tik, = free weekend! even won an extra 60$ while we were standing in line! = more beer money! drove through a monster t storm on the way up. got up there, launched with the water high at the only ramp open on the lake. came down to very hot and sunny, some wind first day. caught bass real well. had one deep area with the bass just really stacked up. caught 20 every day there early. Banshee got a few big ones there. spider grub, c rig, spot remover with a ringworm! thanks Tom! after that we hit some shallow flooded areas. crankbaits off the submerged trees was best. had a blast. That old coke cooler does not have soda in it. sun got to us by the last day so we headed home. lake in the pics is 4 ft higher than normal. lots of flooded trees. we found fishing easier crankin outside. last hour I actually got the frog rod out and tied a big shallow crankbait on. with the 50# braid was able to rip it through stuff. worked! got some crappie too. next year gonna bring the crappie stuff.
boat and truck ran great. It was a long winter waiting for this trip but worth it.

I had no idea Champlin was such a good bass lake. Thanks for the pics.

Champlain is the best and most popular lake in the northeast. Bass, pike, panfish, it’s just loaded. Google champlain tourney results for FLW, everstart, BFL…
110 miles long. Season opens a week early up there, so except for me, every guy is heading up there. I gotta work.

The last couple years when I’ve gone out in the winter to work the Syracuse Ice Show guys always mentioned it as a panfish lake. Obviously they held out on me.

Speaking of the Syracuse show… they canceled it due to lack of interest from the public. Major bummer. It was really gaining traction with the vendors. Too bad the people didn’t come out and take part. I’m going to miss BBQ night at Dinosaurs.

Sorry you miss the BBQ! Show attendance is down all over NY. New Yorkers get a little stuck in there ways when it comes to fishing. I could go on, but picture me just shaking my head slowly…
Champlain is also a panfish mecca. so many panny’s I have no idea how you’d target anything specific!
you wanna head over here, I got a few dinners on me…
