Just a couple questions for those of you that live in/near the twin cities. I’ve read on here that Cabelas carries TUCR in store. Wondering if it’s all 3 Cabelas down there and also if you have seen any left in stock. As I type that I realize it’s probably crazy talk this late in the season. I’ll be in the cities for a couple days soon and I’d like to get one in my hands before I decide between the Bullwhip and the Fusion. I’ve read tons of forums comparing them but really want to feel for myself. Thank you all.

You can go right to their place in Coon Rapids. I would guess they would have some on hand for you to handle.

I’d love to go to their shop if the timing worked out. I see their hours are M-Th 7:00pm-10:00pm, I won’t be there during those times unfortunately.

Thanks! I’m leaning toward the Fusion for the fact that it can fish up to eater walleyes but worried it won’t fish down to smaller bluegills like the BW…first world problem I guess

I think I ordered the last TUCR off Cabelas website last night. They were on sale for $80 with free shipping. After purchase the item disappeared from the website. No TUCRs are found anywhere on the site now. I did see they said “limited stock” in Woodbury and none in Rogers or Owatonna before that however.

That’s just what I did. Come to find out John was commonly in the shop on Saturdays too. I texted him and found he was there and let him know when I was coming. That was in the fall though when they were in full production mode. Still wouldn’t hurt to get ahold of John and find out.

You can try to PM him here… @tunedup, or John Burback

When are you planning on being in town? We can try to get someone over to the shop to meet you and answer your questions. As for retail options, Cabelas is pretty picked over, however Scheels should still have some in stock. And as for Bullwhip vs Fusion, I would rather fish bluegill with a Fusion, than walleye with a Bullwhip, but that’s just me. I actually use my Bullwhip more than any other rod, but that’s because I live in the metro and am almost always panfishing. Let me know if you have any other questions, and when your going to be around.

    Ryan,

Feel free to let me know what time you are going to be in town. We are more than willing to work with you.

That is just our set hours of what works for a lot of people. We are there other times throughout the day.

    Let me know.

    John

Thank you all for your input. I just spoke with Adam who answered the major questions I had. What excellent customer service! Going with a Bullwhip. It’s sure nice to see a small start up grow and doing so well. Like I told Adam…TUCR is the craft beer of ice rods.

Great choice! I love my bullwhip. When you are fishing next to someone without it, it’s almost like cheating. The hookset is a little different than a non noodle rod and it takes a little practice to get it dialed in. The best way I have found to describe it is to lift the rod rather than jerk it. When you set the hook on a non noodle rod you do a quick hard jerk and drive the hook home. With the Bullwhip, or the Precision Noodle, you need to lift through the noodle portion to get to the backbone. Once you get the hang of it, it makes sense. But it can be a bit frustrating at first.

Great insight Dan, thank you. This is my first true “noodle” rod so I’m sure there’ll be a learning curve. Im looking forward to dialing it in on some late ice crappies
