TUCR QT vs Bullwhip

Hey guys, Ive been looking at adding one of TUCRs quick tips or bullwhip ice rods to my arsenal. I currently have a TUCR precision and precision noodle and I love them. I am looking for a perch rod and Im wondering which of the two rods will best fit this type of fishing. Last year, I fished thorne bros power noodle with a 1/16oz clam bomb spoon and that seemed to work great, but it seemed like it was a little light for some of those perch. If you guys could give me some suggestions or insight on your experience with the QT or bullwhip id greatly appreciate it!

I would personally opt for a QT but either option would be a good choice. I mainly fish with small spoons for perch and the quick tip does a great job. If you also fish smaller jigs for perch then the Bullwhip would definitely be the right rod.

I’ve seen the BW handle baits such as the #4 Rippin’ Rap with ease, and will do a great job with smaller spoons. It will definitely give you the “visual” bite detection.

Go QT for 1/16 oz super rod for that purpose.

I personally prefer to fish the QT only with spoons from 1/8th oz down to 1/32. If the fish are calling for more finesse or even Tungsten jigs, I will fish the bullwhip. Personal choice, all in all the QT is a fun rod and should be added since you have the Precision and the noodle already. I would add the bullwhip next after the QT.

    Hi Cal,

I was wondering, did you mean that you only like to fish those particular spoons on that rod or that’s the only thing you use your QT for? BTW, that LX-6 is still running strong! Thanks!

Personally for perch I like the bullwhip. For larger go with the QT. My QT was shortened a inch and I find it to sensitive for bluegills. When there just tasting the bait it feels like a huge hit. JMO.

That is what I use the QT for….1/8th to 1/32nd spoons. Which is a lot of my fishing lure size for perch/panfish.

Have both, and I would say Quick Tip. I really love this rod for basically everything! It was a blast on Mille Lacs for walleyes as well. I do have another Bullwhip coming and a deadstick. I have 2 28″ commanders and a 28″PN on top of all the other rods, and that QT is still the most fun to fish.

Only thing I wish my quick tip had was the green tip like the bullwhip.

I vote Bullwhip ! Mine handles everything from avg perch to jumbos to walleye ! I have the QT but I never want to put my BullWhip down to even try it.

The only thing I would say is solid carbon for feel vs. solid glass with hi visual tip for sight fishing. It’s a personal preference between the two on how you like to fish. I prefer QT for perch and precision noodle for shallow water use because I use a fly reel.

I’ve never tried a QT but my bullwhip works really great for perch. I was even surprised how well it handled decent size walleyes. I don’t do a lot of walleye fishing, but when I do I reach for my bullwhip first. I know it wasn’t designed for walleyes, but I love the light tip for subtle walleye bites. It is really easy to see if the bait is in the fishes mouth before setting the hook, and has a sweet backbone.
